Typeface Design

1. Inspirations

I started this project with an exploration of interesting shapes and textures I found in daily life. I sketched out some letters based on my inspirations and developed other letters in the same style originated from the "soul character".

2. Evolution

I decided to go with the three-dimensional characters, as deconstruction of a towel, because it is really interesting to be simple and minimal, but yet showing a sense of space. I then explored more possibilities from the original structure.

3. Development of Glyphs
4. Application

Because the typeface gives people a sense of space, I designed a poster to illustrates its feature expressively. I created a "Room" literally and filled it with furnitures and decorations. I kept all the components as outlines like a blueprint to keep it simple and clean, and also to emphasize the three-dimensional structure of the typeface.
